Camming as a Duo in a Relationship

Camming as a Duo in a Relationship

We first started camming five years ago after watching a documentary about camming. We were both working opposite shifts from each other and found we had little, to no time, to spend together.

One night, we decided to give camming a try, signed up to Chaturbate and we had 20,000 users in our room. After a few weeks, we both quit our day jobs and decided to take up camming full time as 19honeysuckle.

When we first started camming, our cam room was all about sex, blowjobs and hardcore scenes. Nowadays, our room has shifted and fans want to see more relationship content.

Camming as a Couple

Working together as a cam couple has really strengthened our relationship and brought us closer together. Being in business together, we go through so much more than a “normal” relationship, that has only made our relationship stronger. We not only get to explore our sexuality together, but we also get to work together.

Having a partner that understands your work and the adult industry is also a huge plus. With both of us working in camming, there are never any issues between us about the adult nature of our work. We both respect and value sex work and are so grateful to the community and fans we have met over the last five years, as well as the opportunities it has presented to us. Having a supportive partner along for the ride has only made it more fun.

Dealing With Jealousy

It really helped that, when we first started camming, we were camming as a couple rather than solo. We were both getting equal attention online and there was never an issue of one of us getting jealous. We are both involved in the shows and we are known as a couple, so users are never trying to get between us.

After camming as a couple for two years, we both decided to try out solo cam shows. The fan base from our couple shows, compared to the ones with just Honey and just Tom, is different … but everyone respects our relationship.

When camming by ourselves, we don’t hide that we are in a relationship and this helps with any issues. Typically, when Tom is camming solo, they never want to see a woman on cam and get upset if Honey even appears in the background. We never take this personally and understand that is just one’s sexual preference.

Every couple and partner is going to have a different reaction to sex work. It’s important to always keep communication open and remember that it is just a job, nothing more. In the new YouTube series “Cam_Girlfriend,” characters showcase some of the hilarious and very real situations that happen behind the scenes of dating while camming.

From fans knowing things about you that your partner might not, or giving the perfect birthday gifts, we have been able to really relate to the show and encourage new couples and broadcasters to check it out to get a glimpse of some of the hilarity that goes on behind the scenes.

Understanding Your Fan Base

When we first started camming, our cam room was all about sex, blowjobs and hardcore scenes. Our fans just wanted to see us having sex. Nowadays, our room has shifted and fans want to see more relationship content. They tune in to see the banter between us, our fun cooking shows, our rubber band watermelon challenge and the other fun, creative shows we put on. It’s now more about the relationships and connections we have built up with fans than just the explicit content.

For our couple shows, our fan base is mostly other couples or people in relationships who enjoy watching the shenanigans we get into. When we are in a couple’s show, there is more of an interaction and relationship between the two of us and with our viewers. There are a lot more moving parts and there is normally weird and funny stuff that happens. Our fans are interested in more of a connection and they feel like part of our family.

The cam industry is always changing and we have found that being creative and innovative is the only way to stay relevant. You must be versatile and constantly change up your shows, your show times, your toys, your cameras and your games to keep fans happy.

Having Good Communication

Communication is so important when working on and off cam as a couple. It’s vital to set boundaries for when you are working and when it is personal time. Make sure that you have intimate time set aside for just you two off cam each week. It’s important to have a sex life outside of camming and to do things just for yourselves rather than an audience.

We also have regular date nights just one-on-one where we don’t talk about work, our shows or what we have coming up. It’s time for just us to connect. We also plan yearly vacations where we can get away from our cam room and workspace and enjoy ourselves. We purposely pick a location with little to no service or Wi-Fi so we aren’t tempted to work.

It’s also important to keep communication open when we are on cam. If a situation comes up that is new or we are uncomfortable with during a live show, we put ourselves on mute, pop our heads out of the frame and talk it over. We are always in control of the show and have to remember that users are just online, they are just words on a computer screen and the boundaries don’t go past that.

We learned pretty early on that you need to have tough skin when working as a sex worker and especially as a cam star. There is always going to be 1,000 negative comments, but you just need to focus on the 10,000 good ones.

Honey (24) and Tom (34) have been camming on Chaturbate as a couple for five years and attend numerous adult industry events. They can be followed @19Honeysuckle on Twitter and at Chaturbate.com/19honeysuckle for cam shows.
